Hubs as a driving force behind sustainable and efficient deliveries

Our growing network of hubs represents far more than infrastructure for VPD. It is a strategic choice that enables us to combine speed, efficiency and sustainability. With 7 hubs spread across Belgium, we are closer to our customers than ever before. This way, every delivery becomes faster, smarter and greener… and we contribute to building the future of sustainable urban logistics.

Why hubs are indispensable

In modern logistics, everything revolves around speed, eff

iciency and sustainability. That is why VPD invests in a strong network of urban hubs. These hubs act as the links between national flows and deliveries to the end customer. They allow goods to be consolidated, shorten the distance to the customer and make it possible to organise deliveries in a smarter and fully electric way.

The result: fewer kilometres, lower emissions and faster deliveries.

Our network of 7 hubs

Today, VPD operates 7 strategically located hubs in Belgium: 3 in Brussels (2 in the north and 1 in the south), as well as in Antwerp, Ghent, Liège and Charleroi. These sites have been carefully selected to serve our clients and their consumers as efficiently as possible.

From each hub, our teams head out daily towards cities and towns with deliveries that are perfectly prepared. The closer to the customer, the faster and more sustainable the delivery.

Their role in middle and last mile delivery

Hubs play a crucial role in both middle mile and last mile delivery.

In the middle mile, goods are transported from our clients’ warehouses to the hubs. There, we consolidate and organise the flows for the last mile: the delivery to the end consumer.

By optimising this organisation, we ensure reliability and speed, while avoiding unnecessary journeys. It is the perfect balance between economies of scale and customer proximity.

Sustainable urban logistics

Cities are becoming increasingly dense and more sensitive to environmental issues. With our hubs, we provide a concrete answer to this challenge. By centralising deliveries close to urban centres, we reduce the number of heavy lorries in the city. From these hubs, smaller vehicles and vans — increasingly electric — take over.

The result: a reduced ecological footprint, quieter, cleaner and safer deliveries.

Hubs are therefore not just a logistical necessity: they are also a lever for more liveable cities.

Zero-emission deliveries

One of VPD’s key ambitions is to achieve zero-emission deliveries. Our hubs are essential to this goal: they enable short-distance deliveries to the end customer using electric vehicles. By expanding and optimising our network, we increase the share of zero-emission deliveries and actively contribute to climate objectives. Each new hub brings us closer to a fully zero-emission distribution model.

Hubs are therefore not just a logistical necessity: they are also a lever for more liveable cities.
