How did you get into the transport sector?
Hamza: I originally trained as an accountant. But it was during a summer job at a transport company that I discovered this industry. It’s a complex but fascinating world. I was given a chance, and I’ve learnt a lot — first in operations, and later in account management. I knew I wanted to grow in this direction, and VPD offered exactly the kind of challenge I was looking for: a dynamic, varied role focused on human interaction. Perfect for someone as social as I am.
A meeting is, above all, about finding solutions together
How would you describe your role?
Hamza: I represent both VPD and our clients. I'm the link between them. My goal is to ensure everyone is moving in the same direction. Human interaction is essential to achieving lasting, tangible results — both internally and externally.
What does a typical day as an account manager look like?
Hamza: I try to schedule meetings in the morning — sometimes on site with the client. After that, it’s a mix of emails, calls, checking orders, and following up on cases. I also make time to connect with my colleagues. I’m right at the centre of things, and their input is vital for me to do my job well.
Nothing is forced here — and that’s exactly why things get done
How would you describe VPD?
Hamza: At VPD, quality and sustainability are more than just words. Issues are addressed openly and constructively. There’s a healthy atmosphere and direct communication. We’re all working towards the same goal, but everyone is trusted and given the freedom and support to approach it in their own way. Initiative is valued, and everything runs in an organised manner. It’s a family business with the mindset of a multinational. A multicultural company where we move forward together.
Quality requires ongoing commitment
What are you most proud of?
Hamza: I haven’t been at VPD long, but I’m proud to be contributing to continuous quality improvement each day. I’m also glad to be part of a company that places real emphasis on sustainability. Thinking about the future — and future generations — is key.
What could still be improved at VPD?
Hamza: My only advice: stay the course. Quality and sustainability should remain the priority. Balancing growth with your core values is essential. But I can see that management is fully aware of this. I’m confident we’re on the right track.
Want change? Start with yourself
And outside of work?
Hamza: I’m very family-oriented. And in recent years, I’ve discovered a love for gardening — it really helps me unwind. I also take part each year in a charitable project supporting orphans in Morocco. Every child deserves to feel warmth and care. They are the future, and they deserve every opportunity.
